A mesh fabric strip(3) is held between two extruded profiles which are pressed together while still in a soft plastic state to form the finished profile strip(2). Independent claims are made for the following: (a) a process for production of the profiled strip in which two parts of the strip are extruded, the mesh fabric introduced between them without any influence from extrusion pressure and the two strip parts are pressed together during calibration to grip the fabric; (b) process equipment in which an extrusion die(4) has melt flow channels and a mesh fabric feed system which remain separate up to the point at which the two strip parts and fabric are pressed together at a calibration unit(12). Preferred Features: One part of the strip forms a base profile while the other part is a coextruded section of the same strip. An edge strip of the mesh fabric is held by two or more strip parts onto the base part of the profiled strip. The mesh fabric can be introduced between the two strip parts either in the extrusion die or following this die.
