<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reception module dispensing with a power source by an AC adapter, and a signal transmitter using the module. <P>SOLUTION: An image signal and a control signal from a host computer 1 are transmitted to the reception module 7 of an image display device 2 by an optical fiber 5 after converting into an optical signal as for the image signal and by an electrical cable 6 as it is as for an electrical signal. The reception module 7 is constituted by an optical DVI reception unit comprising a connector for connecting the optical fiber 5 and the electrical cable 6 and a light/electricity conversion circuit, and a power supply substrate to which the optical DVI reception unit is fixed in attachable/detachable manner and which supplies power to the optical DVI reception unit from the image display device 2.
