<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory card socket of which a base body is prevented from falling under an external force applied in inserting/removing a card. <P>SOLUTION: The memory card socket includes: a socket body 3 where a memory card MC is slid and inserted/removed through a card insert opening that is opened on the front surface; and a resin base body 7 which holds a plurality of contacts 10 contacting a plurality of I/O contact surfaces provided on one surface of the memory card MC, and is arranged at the back of the socket body 3 with the plurality of contacts 10 oriented to the card insert opening side. The socket body 3 consists of a metal base shell 1 and a cover shell 2. Both shells 1 and 2 are integrally jointed by press-fitting the base shell 1 to the base body 7 and laser-welding the joint part of both shells 1 and 2. The cover shell 2 includes: a protruding piece 20 which abuts on, from the front side thereof, an engaging recess 17 provided on the front surface of the base body 7; and a bent piece 19 which abuts on, from the rear side thereof, an engaging recess 18 provided on the rear surface of the base body 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
