PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce sound generated from an HDD device mounted on a moving object such as a vehicle. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device for a vehicle is provided with a nonvolatile memory (22) in which data read from a magnetic disk (12) is recorded, a means (20) for receiving speed of a vehicle, a means (20) for comparing received speed of the vehicle with a previously set first value or a second value, and a means (20) for discriminating whether compared speed of the vehicle is larger than the first value, whether it is smaller than the first value and larger than the second value, whether it is smaller than the second value, wherein control is performed so that when it is discriminated that the compared speed of the vehicle is larger than the first value, data is read from the magnetic disk with first head movement speed (seek speed), and when it is discriminated that the speed is smaller than the first value and larger than the second value, data is read from the magnetic disk with the second head movement speed (seek speed), and read data is recorded in the nonvolatile memory (22).
