PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SIMD type microprocessor for not giving any restriction to image processing using range designation on programming in an SIMD type microprocessor for dealing with a plurality of pixels by one PE. SOLUTION: In an SIMD type microprocessor 2 having a plurality of PE 4 equipped with two ALU, that is, an upper order ALU 24 and a lower order ALU 18, the PE 4 is provided with control circuits (32, 36) and range decision circuits (34, 38) corresponding to each ALU. Then, the global processor 50 and each PE4 are connected through a range designation bus 40 for a high order and a range designation bus 42 for a low order, and range designation is operated to make the PE 4 operate from the range designation bus 40 for a high order, and the range designation is operated to make the PE4 operate from the range designation bus 42 for a low order so that the high order ALU 24 and the low order ALU 18 can individually operate by the range designation.
