PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus of electromagnetic induction heating type, capable of enhancing surely a heating efficiency of a heating member, without enlarging a size of a device. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with the first core 28 opposed circumferential-directionally to an outer circumference of the heating member 20 via an excitation coil 25, and a plurality of the second cores 29A-29D neighboring to the outer circumference of the heating member 20 more closely than the first core 28, to be opposed, and extended width-directionally. The excitation coil 25 is arranged to circulate around the two second cores 29A, 29B out of the plurality of second cores 29A-29D. Shielding members 70A, 70B for shielding a magnetic flux are installed between the two second cores 29A, 29B circulated around with the excitation coil 25. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
