PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission and a synchronization cable mounting method capable of mounting synchronization cables to pulleys in an inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: In this toroidal type continuously variable transmission, the synchronization cables 262, 263, 266, 267 are directly fastened to the pulleys 264 (265), 264a (265a) by caulking. Thus, caulking parts 400, 402 each of which has a pair of slits S on both sides and enabling bending deformation are provided in the pulleys 264 (265), 264a (265a). This configuration eliminates the necessity of providing additional members such as fastening tubes in the synchronization cables 262, 263, 266, 267 and also the necessity of processing grooves etc. on the pulleys 264 (265), 264a (265a) to lock such additional members on the pulleys 264 (265), 264a (265a).
