The method involves producing a core (K) from a foamed plastic material and a cladding (H) from another plastic material. A strand (10) is extruded from the former foamed plastic material and guided through a liquid plastic material-soaking bath (27) in a cladding station (18) such that an outer side of the strand is provided with a coating (24) of the latter plastic material. A section forming a cylindrical bottle cap (V) is cut from the strand perpendicular to a longitudinal extension of the strand.
