Lower alkyl esters separation involves transesterifying of fatty alcohol fraction or fatty alcohol mixture to fatty alcohol, wax esters and lower alkylalcohol. Simultaneously the lower alkylalcohol is discharged completely from the reaction mixture in presence of an inert gas, preferably nitrogen. The wax ester is separated from obtained product. The transesterification is carried out in presence of a heterogeneous catalyst, preferably titanium silicalite catalyst. Independent claims are included for: (1) a plant for execution of the method, which is designed as a fatty acid alkyl esters hydrogenation plant for producing fatty alcohol; and (2) a reactor for execution of the method, which is designed as a column, particularly structured packing.
