An image pickup apparatus, an image processing method, and a computer program are provided to remove dark current correspondingly to each photographing surface having different features, thereby generating image data having good quality. A photographing apparatus(100) comprises a camera block(101), a image processor(102), an image display unit(103), a memory(104), a program, a memory unit(105), a manipulation part(106), a controller(107), a memory control unit(108) and a removable memory(109). The image processor receives a signal from a photographing element having a different generating amount of dark current, processes the received signal according to a feature of each area and generates an image of high quality. An image to be processed is stored in the removable memory and is displayed on the image display unit. The image processor generates an image having uniform and high quality by removing the dark current in consideration of a feature of each photographing surface(fractional area).
