A color correction apparatus of a scanner and a control method thereof are provided to include CIE data, which is out of a color gamut boundary, in the color gamut boundary, thereby preventing a color gamut from being out of a set range by extrapolation.. A calculating unit(140) calculates CIE(Commission Internationale de I'Eclairage) data corresponding to RGB data. When the CIE data exists out of a color gamut boundary, a correction unit(170) corrects CIE data to new CIE data existing within the color gamut boundary. A determining unit(160) determines whether CIE data exists out of the color gamut boundary. A scan input unit(110) receives RGB data scanning a reference color chart.
