PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attitude estimation device which increases the speed of estimation while excluding unnatural states for attitudes, and narrowing down the range in which attitudes are estimated. SOLUTION: The attitude estimation device includes: an attitude state predicting part 11 for predicting a plurality of stochastically certain states out of attitude states that an articulated animal can assume; a time-series image obtaining part 12 for obtaining, using a picture input means, time-series images taken of the articulated animal; a silhouette image creating part 13 for creating a silhouette image out of each frame image of the time-series images; an attitude state evaluating part 14 for evaluating, using the silhouette image created, the likelihood of each of the plurality of attitude states predicted by the attitude state predicting part 11; an attitude state output part 15 for estimating the attitude of the articulated animal that is considered most certain based on the result of evaluation of each attitude state, and outputting the attitude estimated; and an attitude state distribution storage part 16 for storing the attitude state output.
