SOLUTION: This similar music retrieval device is provided with a feature quantity arithmetic means 20 for dividing registered music data stored in a registered music data storage means 32 and input music data input from an input music data input means 10 into one or more melody pieces and input pieces with fixed length, and for calculating the music feature quantities of each melody piece and input piece based on feature quantities including at least the appearance time, sound length, and sound height transition information of a note included in the melody piece and input piece; a similarity arithmetic means 22 for comparing similarity acquired by the distance calculation of an EMD for calculating the minimum transport costs from a supply place to a demand place by the same distance scale about the input piece feature quantities of the input piece included in input music data stored in an input piece feature quantity storage means 42 and the music feature quantities of every melody piece stored in a melody piece feature quantity storage means 34, and for extracting registered music data whose overall keys are similar to those of the input music data; and a retrieval result output means 50.
