A circuit interrupter capable of facilitating change of various standards, method thereof, and computer program product are provided to detect malfunction current, arc fault, ground fault, and over current based on malfunction current size predetermined by controller. A circuit interrupter includes a controller(16) and a circuit breaker(20). The controller determines existence and nonexistence of at least one predetermined current in a circuit. The circuit interrupter comprises a trip mechanism(21), a current sensor, a switch(23), a control input part, an adjacent circuit connector, and a distal circuit connector. The trip mechanism receives a trip signal. The current sensor provides an output in proportion to a current of the circuit. The switch controls a flow of the current in the circuit. The control input part receives an operation signal. The adjacent circuit connector and the distal circuit connector connect the circuit breaker to a power source(18) and each circuit.
