<p>The decoupler (10) has a ball race (12) with two diameters (14, 16) and another ball race (18) with ramps (20) that are arranged in a circumferential direction. A roll element (22) is radially arranged between the ball races. An insertion unit (24) e.g. snap disk thermostat, is arranged to axially move the roll element from a position (26) adjacent to the diameter (14) of the ball race (12) to another position (28) in contact with the diameter (16) of the ball race to engage the decoupler, where the diameter (16) is smaller than the diameter (14). An independent claim is also included for a method for actuating a water pump decoupler.</p> |
