The present invention describes an X-ray detector cover (3) which serves as a magnetic shield against external magnetic fields that are applied to a flat X-ray detector (5). According to the invention, said detector cover (3) is made of multiple layers (3a, 3b) of a laminated compound material. The compound material may e.g. consist of multiple layers of an electrically conductive foil (3a) and multiple isolating layers (3b) being arranged in a multi-layer sandwich structure, which provides for a magnetic shielding with reduced X-ray absorption and further guarantees a high mechanical strength of the detector cover (3). The applied multiple foil construction makes it possible to use a material with lower magnetic susceptibility and lower X-ray absorption, where the latter advantage results from the fact that less damping material (in the form of multiple, but relatively thin layers) can be used. |
