The vehicle has a releasing mechanism (EM) and a vehicle door (F) that is released by the releasing mechanism. A pre-field lighting (VB) produces pre-field light for illuminating a surrounding area of the vehicle door or produces a door handle light for illuminating a door handle. A sensor device (SE) produces and emits a sensor signal as reaction to the pre-field light or the door handle light reflected by an object. A control device (STE) is arranged in such a manner that the releasing mechanism is automatically activated depending on the sensor signal.
