A vacuum cleaner is provided to minimize the volume of stored dust by compressing the dust by pressing elements. A main body is detachably mounted with a dust collecting unit(200) formed with dust storing parts(214,216) inside. Pressing elements(270,280) compress dust stored in the dust storing parts. A driving unit(400) is mounted to the dust collecting unit for driving the pressing elements, each including a compression motor(410) and a motor housing(420) for receiving the motor and coupled with the dust collecting unit.
