The invention concerns a method to determine the motion or relative position or deformation of an object or of at least two elements (1, 2) comprising the steps of: a) obtaining three-dimensional data of an object or elements (1, 2) in a first shape or first absolute or relative position; b) moving at least one of the elements (1, 2) and/or deforming the object to have a second shape or second absolute or relative position ; c) obtaining two-dimensional data of the object or elements (1, 2) having the second shape or second absolute or relative position; and d) calculating the three-dimensional second shape or second absolute or relative position using the two-dimensional data obtained in step c) and the three-dimensional data obtained in step a).
