Improvements relating to deck chairs

The inclination of a deck chair backrest may be adjusted in response to movement of the arm rests 11, 12. The locking mechanism comprises two plates 18 pivoted to the pivotal connection 2 between each pair of legs 1 and provided with a projection 181 to hook over a rail 17 in a longitudinal recess 16 in the underneath side of the arm rest 11. The projection locks against the upper side c of the recess when the armrest is urged rearwardly. The mechanism is released by raising the arm rest 11. A bolt 21 prevents the projection 181 locking when the arm rest is moved forwardly. The hook-like projection 181 may be replaced by a pair of slots 23, 24 through which the rail 17 slides (Fig. 8). The seat and back cloth are readily detachable.
