[Also in Division D1] An extruded net is sized whilst still plastic by expanding or contracting it radially. A thermoplastic net B (Fig. 1) may be heated as it leaves the nozzle 2, is expanded over a former 3 in a cooling bath 4, is cut to a sheet by a knife 6 and is taken up by rollers 5, 5a. The former 3 may be contained in a cooling tube having a rubber seal at the bottom to prevent escape of fluid. The net may be contracted radially by passing it through a ring. Wet spinnable materials may be set by spraying with a coagulant. Specification 836,555 is referred to. |
