[Also in Division H3] In a scanning circuit for a television receiver (see Division H3) the leakage inductance of a transformer is made to resonate with stray capacitance at the third harmonic of the operating frequency, the tuning being adjusted by variation of the reluctance of a magnetic shunt. As shown, a gapped rectangular ferrite core 3 carries windings 1, 2 on opposite limbs. A ferrite tube 6 supported by a wire 8, attached to insulating sheets 5, forms a magnetic shunt carrying leakage flux. A gap is provided by paper 7 between the shunt 6 and the core 3. The leakage reactance is changed by short circuiting winding 9 on the core 6. Alternatively the paper 7 may be replaced by a tapered brass member so that the air gap can be changed by movement of the shunt 6. The transformer is provided with switched output tappings connected to soldering tags 4. |
