PROGRAMMABLE, FLUID PRESSURE ACTUATED BLOOD PROCESSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Programmable, fluid pressure actuated blood processing systems (10) and methods are used in association with a blood separation device (18). The systems and methods employ a cassette (28), which contains several preformed, pneumatically actuated pump stations (PP1-PP4), several preformed fluid flow paths (F1-F38), and several preformed, pneumatically actuated (VA1-VA23) valves (1-23) in the fluid flow paths. The systems and methods also employ progr ammable pneumatic actuators (PA1-PA4) to hold the cassette and selectively apply pneumatic force to the valves and the pump stations.
