FIELD: physics; measurement. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to measuring technology and is meant for measuring linear dimensions of objects and distance between objects. The tape measure has a second roll, on which is wound a second elastic measuring tape. If necessary, the second roll can be linked to the first roll, for example, through a ledge, which has a detachable tooth or friction gear, providing for their separate or combined synchronous rotation when one of the tapes is pulled. Each measuring tape has an inner scale, facing the axes of the rolls, with scale factor 1:1, for measurement in separate operation mode of the rolls, and an outer reverse scale, with scale factor 1:2, for measurement in the synchronous mode of pulling the tape.
