MEASURING METHOD OF AZIMUTHAL ANCHORING ENERGY FOR LCD

A method for measuring an azimuthal anchoring energy for an LCD is provided to reduce the measurement error by rubbing liquid crystal molecule after twisting the liquid crystal molecule to the predetermined angle. A chopper(113), a polarizer(115), and an analyzer(119) are equipped between the light source(111) and light amount detection unit(121). A liquid crystal cell(100) is positioned between these polarized light device and an analyzer. The polarizer is designed in order to be rotatable for selectively receiving light of polarized light. The QWP(117) is equipped between an analyzer and a liquid crystal cell. The QWP and analyzer measure are designed to measure the light polarization state. Light from the light source is irradiated by the medium of chopper and polarized light device through 2 times as the liquid crystal cell.
