The marker (4) has a radiofrequency identification transponder (6) sandwiched between layers of a radiopaque element (8), where the transponder has an electronic chip connected to an aerial. The element is made of barium sulfate. A fixation unit (12) is fixed to a medical or veterinary instrument i.e. surgical chisel. A binder (10) forms the radiopaque element, and is made of adhesive, resin or plastic material. The transponder and the element are encapsulated in a thermoplastic protection shell that is heat molded and confined between the layers.
