An exhalation valve comprises an annular body with a plurality of exhaust openings 9, frame means 44 secured to the upper wall of the body and having a plurality of inlet openings, a valve seat 34 carried by the frame means, a valve member 33, a bellows 54 operative between the valve member and a bottom wall 23 of the body member, a spring 25 for expanding the bellows and urging the valve member towards its closed position, and magnetic means 50 for attracting the valve member to closed position. When breathing pressure is applied to the member 33 it breaks away from the seat 34 to open the valve against the attraction of the magnet 50, which has a screwed adjustable mounting in the frame means, and against the resistance of the spring 25. The seat 34 and its mounting ring 37 may be of plastic and the bellows 54 of " Teflon " (Registered Trade Mark). The valve may be incorporated in a breathing mask, helmet, space suit or oxygen tent.</p> |
