A support leg assembly for a semi-trailer comprises a pair of telescopic legs 20 extendable by means of a rack-and-pinion mechanism actuated by a handle 72, the upper members 22 of the legs being secured to frames 30 and being cross-connected by transverse members 24 and 26. A support pad 80 is pivoted at 82 to the foot of each extending member 70 of the legs, and each leg is also provided with a pair of castor wheels 114 and 116 attached respectively to springs 92 and 94, the springs being of.. sufficient rigidity that the assembly is normally supported by the wheels but when the legs support the weight of the trailer, the springs 92 and 94 are deflected and the pads 80 rest upon the ground. Each frame 30 is provided with a series of locking pins 32, 34, 36, 38 and a locating flange 46 which coacts with a surface 48 of the trailer and the assembly is locked in place by the insertion of the locking pins within complementary holes in the trailer, the insertion and withdrawal of the pins being effected by means of a crank member 50 which has an actuating handle 60.</p> |
