An emergency call system and an event control method therein are provided to prevent or minimize the disaster by quickly transmitting an emergent event. A central control center(102) manages the whole operation of an emergency call system(100). In case a driver informs that an accident occurs through an emergency telephone(104a), the central control center suggests proper measures to the driver. The emergency telephone(104a-104c) is a VoIP(Voice over Internet Protocol) phone using the Internet protocol(IP). The emergency telephones are installed on an expressway or a railway, and are connected with the central control center through an optical network(108). An optical modem apparatus(106a-106c) modulates and demodulates the light into information signals. An optical equipment(110) is installed in the central control center to transmit signals transmitted from the emergency telephone to the central control center. |
