The invention provides a detergent composition which is little irritant to the skin and so on and which is excellent in foaming properties, creaminess of foam, feelings in use (rinsing properties and the touch of the washed skin), and stability. A detergent composition which comprises (A) a phosphate surfactant consisting of a mixture of (a1) a phosphoric acid monoester surfactant represented by the general formula (1) and (a2) a phosphoric acid diester surfactant represented by the general formula (2) with the (a1)/(a2) content ratio within the range of 90/10 to 50/50 by weight, (B) a higher fatty acid or a salt thereof as represented by the general formula (3), and (C) at least one member selected from the group consisting of (C-1) glyceryl ethers having straight-or branched-chain alkyl or alkenyl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms and (C-2) compounds represented by the general formula (4), with the proviso that when the component (C-1) is contained, the (B)/(A) content ratio by weight exceeds 1.5 and is below 10. |
