PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can always produce an image with stable density by executing proper control of image formation conditions by correcting variation of VL based on an image formation time, an image formation stop time, a temperature of an atmosphere environment and an absolute humidity of the atmosphere environment. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a timer 24 measuring the image formation time t1 lapsed from start of rotation of a photosensitive drum 1 and the image formation stop time t2 lapsed from stop of the rotation of the photosensitive drum 1, and a temperature and humidity sensor 18 detecting the temperature Tc and the humidity of the atmosphere environment around the photosensitive drum 1. When the absolute humidity is low, a charging voltage is controlled based on a measured result of the timer 24 and detected results of the temperature and humidity sensor 18. When the absolute humidity is high, the charging voltage is controlled based on the measured result of the timer 24 and the temperature detected result of the temperature and humidity sensor 18 without using humidity information.
