PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstacle recognition device of vehicle capable of detecting the distance to a target by a single camera like a stereo camera. SOLUTION: The device includes a left light source 1 and a right light source 2 for irradiating light alternately toward the vehicle front; a single camera 3 provided on the center in the vehicle width direction, for imaging the vehicle front; a shadow extraction part 4 for extracting the first shadow 21 and the second shadow 22 of the target 20 irradiated by the right and left light sources 1, 2, respectively, from an image of the vehicle front imaged by the camera 3; and a distance measuring part 5 for determining the distance from the vehicle 100 to the target 20 based on an angleβformed between an elongating direction of the first shadow 21 and an elongating direction of the second shadow 22.
