PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear superior in the adhesiveness of a hard carbon film. SOLUTION: The gear comprises: a base material of a steel comprising 0.005≤C≤0.6 mass%, 0.01≤Si≤2.0 mass%, 0.01≤Mn≤2.0 mass%, 0.1≤Cr≤2.0 mass%, 0.15≤Mo≤1.5 mass%, 0.01≤V≤0.5 mass% and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities, while satisfying the following expression (1): 0.40≤V+0.15Mo≤0.70; a carburized case formed on the surface of the base material; and the hard carbon film formed on the carburized case.
