The stent has a grid-like supportive structure (11) with bridging sections (12) bordering cells (13a). A cell covering (14) is integrally-connected to its surrounding bridging sections. The covering is structured, especially by including pores (15). It has a grid structure. Covered cells (13a) and open cells (13b) are arranged in a pattern. Preferred wall thicknesses of covering and bridges, are preferably in the ranges 10-30 mu m and 40-120 mu m respectively. Manufacture is by removal of material from a tube or sheet, using a short-pulsed laser. Etching and mechanical cutting are alternatives. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the method of manufacture.
