A method for producing a composite positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to obtain a positive electrode active material having excellent property within a short time without an organic solvent by performing all processes to the dry method. A method for producing a composite positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a step for mixing in advance a positive electrode active material and a surface processing component, wherein the surface processing component is at least one or two metal compounds selected from metal elements of the first transition metal or the second transition metal; and a step for performing the coating in a device having high speed shearing action.
