<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a sub-image in an optimal region on a base image. <P>SOLUTION: A classification section 11 stores a moving image compressed by MPEG2 system in memory 12 while classifying it at least into main data and sub-data. A main decoder 13 and a sub-decoder 14 read out the corresponding data from the memory 12 and decode it. A main processing section 15 performs predetermined processing on main data for every frame. A sub-processing section 16 performs predetermined processing on sub-data. A detecting section 17 acquires motion vector information from each block of each base image, calculates a region where variation in motion vector value is small between the base images from the motion vector information and determines the display position of the sub-image for the base image.
