PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of acquiring an image of high quality with less noise and lower power consumption, without impairing the ease of determining at which point to end exposure. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises an imaging part 22 which includes an imaging element; a camera control part 27, which controls the imaging part 22 for repeating a processing in which next image data is read out of the imaging element with a timing such that as the time interval from preceding image data reading becomes gradually longer; an image processing part 23 for generating a display image corresponding to image data of the exposure time from the start of exposure to reading of image data, each time the image data read out of the imaging element; and a display part 24 which updates and displays the display image, each time the display image is generated by the image processing part 23.
