PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper-based oil-containing sintered sliding member that exhibits excellent friction and abrasion properties without containing a solid lubricant such as graphite, molybdenum disulfide and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The copper-based oil-containing sintered sliding member comprises Al-Cu-Fe quasi-crystal alloy particles uniformly dispersed in a sintered matrix and the matrix is impregnated with a lubricating oil. The Al-Cu-Fe quasi-crystal alloy particles comprise aΨphase having a crystal structure of an icosahedron and has a composition represented by the general formula: Al<SB>bal</SB>Cu<SB>a</SB>Fe<SB>b</SB>(wherein a and b are each an atomic%, 24≤a≤26 and 11.5≤b≤13).
