PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable each of viewers to enjoy each of video images, in double-screen display, without being disturbed by sound of the other video image, with simple configuration. SOLUTION: A video/audio playback apparatus is characterized in that, when double-screen display is instructed by a remote controller, video signals different from each other are selected by a selector, for example, as a video signal selection means and output onto a display unit as a display means and when playback of audio corresponding to video images on the both screens of the display unit is further instructed by the remote controller, for example, a cross-talk cancel circuit 124a as a cross-talk cancel means provided at an input side of left and right speakers 129, 130 is controlled by a system controller, for example, as a control means, so that the sound corresponding to the video image on any one screen to a viewer who is viewing a video image on the other screen, is to be canceled.
