PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the diameter of a through-hole from shrinking in pressing a ferrule into a holding member. SOLUTION: A ferrule X comprises a tubular body 1 having a through-hole 1a for holding an optical fiber, a cone 1b which is an introductory part in inserting an optical fiber, and an annular groove 1c. One end of the tubular body 1 is pressed into a holding member (not illustrated). When the tubular body 1 is pressed into the holding member, the width of the groove 1c shrinks before the diameter of the through-hole 1a is shrunk, and the deformation of the inner circumferential surface of the tubular body 1 is absorbed by the groove 1c, thereby reducing the shrinkage of the diameter of the through-hole 1a.
