PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology relating to a compact navigation apparatus that enables navigation over a wide area. SOLUTION: A positioning section 103 obtains a current location. A controller section 101 implements a control for capturing map information that is useful for an area, including the historic spot from a map data supply apparatus 200 to a RAM 105, based on the location of a historic site near the current location, a standard tour time of the historic spot, and railroad timetable information on a transportation means to the historic spot. After the required map information is loaded to the RAM 105 as a compact and small-capacity storage apparatus, the navigation apparatus 100 is separated from the map data supply apparatus 200.
