PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer inexpensively achieving illumination for a paper conveying part while maintaining the present condition of space in a main boy. SOLUTION: In the printer 1, a reflection part 61 is provided at an installation spot positioned above an ink residual amount sensor 11 provided inside the main body 2. When a carriage 21 on which five ink tanks 24 to 28 are mounted exists at a maintenance part, the light emitting element of the ink residual amount sensor 11 is lit. Light from the light emitting element of the ink residual amount sensor 11 is reflected by the reflection part 61, and a paper conveying path on a platen 41 is irradiated with the light in the reflection area 11R thereof.
