PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for chemically synthesizing a glycolipid antigen substance specific to Mycoplasma pneumoniae and usable as a material for the development of a method for the detection-diagnosis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae. SOLUTION: The method for the synthesis ofβ-galactosyl-(1,6)-β-galactosyl-sn-diacylglyceride orβ-glucosyl-(1,6)-β-galactosyl-sn-diacylglyceride comprises four procedures containing two steps ofβ-glycosylation reaction. The invention further provides a galactoside donor or glucoside donor useful as an intermediate substance of the compounds and having hydroxy groups protected with ether-type protection groups.
