A warhead (1) and a method for implementing such a warhead (1) having an explosive charge (2), means for initiating a detonation of the explosive charge (2) at a desired distance from a target, and projectile means, wherein the projectile means comprise a body of packed fragments (5a) having a geometry configured to correspond to a desired shape of impact pattern on the target, which body, upon detonation of the explosive charge (2) is ejected from the warhead (1) to form a cloud of fragments which on impact upon the target has a super-critical density of impacting fragments sufficient to create percolation cuts and cause localized target shattering.
