<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a center rest so that a coolant or lubricant can be supplied to an outside supporting element without difficulty. <P>SOLUTION: This center rest 1 centers and grips a workpiece 20 using three supporting elements (4 or 7). Both of outside supporting elements 7 can pivot, and a central supporting element 4 can be adjusted linearly. At that time, a coolant or lubricant can be supplied to the workpiece 20 via a housing 2 and a flow path 23 installed in the supporting elements 4, 7. An opening space 21 is provided in the housing 2 and/or a housing cover 3. The housing 2 and/or the housing cover 3 and the flow paths 22, 23 provided inside the supporting element 4 are communicated with the opening space 21. The flow paths 22, 23 are connected with each other via an elastically deformable element 31 formed as a flexible high-pressure tube 32.
