PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform money reception processing without impairing an existing function, and to temporarily reserve a bill in an existing portion except a bill storage part, even in a state that a temporary reservation part is unusable. SOLUTION: This bill reception/payment device has: a bill reception/payment part 11; the bill storage part 19 capable of storing the bill; a bill discrimination part 14 discriminating normality or abnormality of the bill; the temporary reservation part 13 into which the bill is conveyed and wherein the bill is temporarily reserved when the discrimination of the bill discrimination part 14 is normal; a return bill accumulation part 12 into which the bill is conveyed and wherein the bill is temporarily accumulated when the discrimination of the bill discrimination part 14 is abnormal; a bill conveyance mechanism conveying the bill between the respective parts; and a conveyance control means making the bill conveyance mechanism convey the bill to the bill reception/payment part 11 or the return bill accumulation part 12, and making it temporarily store the bill.
