SOLUTION: In the lubricant application device 17 including a lubricant holder 17g holding a lubricant molding 17b to apply a lubricant supplied from the lubricant molding 17b onto the surface of an image carrier, the lubricant holder 17g is adapted so that the lubricant molding 17b can be newly replenished when the lubricant molding 17b is consumed and reduced to a small size.
