PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse wave measuring method and a pulse wave measuring apparatus of a simple configuration for highly accurately measuring pulse waves by surely reducing the influence of body movements by the apparatus. SOLUTION: Polarized irradiation light is emitted in the state without the body movements; a first polarized light component in a direction which is one of polarization directions same as and orthogonal to the irradiation light and a second polarized light component in the other direction in the reflected light are separated and detected; first signals and second signals respectively corresponding to the first and second polarized light components are separated into pulse wave signals and non pulse wave signals, and the ratio of the pulse wave signals of the first signals to the pulse wave signals of the second signals and the ratio of the non pulse wave signals of the first signals to the non pulse wave signals of the second signals are acquired. The irradiation light is emitted in the state with possibility of the body movements, a third polarized light component in a direction which is one of the polarization directions same as and orthogonal to the irradiation light and a fourth polarized light component in the other direction in the reflected light are separated and detected, two signals respectively corresponding to the third and fourth polarized light components are computed using the two ratios and the pulse wave signals are extracted.
