METHOD OF PREPARING VALSARTAN

A method for preparing a novel intermediate for the synthesis of valsartan, and a method for preparing valsartan are provided to obtain the intermediate which can be crystallized excellently and is purified easily, thereby improving the yield of valsartan. A method for preparing an intermediate for the synthesis of valsartan comprises the steps of reacting the 4-bormomethyl-2'-(1-triphenylmethyltetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl represented by the formula II and the L-valine alkyl ester represented by the formula IV in a reaction solvent; and continuously adding an acid to it to prepare the (S)-3-methyl-2-[2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-biphenyl-4-yl-methyl]-amino-butyric acid alkyl ester crystalline salt represented by the formula II, wherein R is an alkyl group substituted or unsubstituted with an aryl group; and X is a couterbase of a strong acid.
