PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stator of a rotating electric machine in which the height of a coil end portion of a stator winding can be reduced. SOLUTION: The stator 10 is provided with a stator core 12 having a plurality of slots 14, 15 in a circumferential direction, and a stator winding 20 made of a wire material and provided on the slots. The stator winding 20 has a slot-housing portion disposed on the different slots on the circumferential direction, and a turn portion for connecting the slot housed portions outside the slot. A step portion parallel to the end surface of the stator cores is formed on the turn portion protruding from the slot, the stator core 12 comprises a plurality of split cores to be inserted in a radial direction for the stator winding 20, and the stator winding 20 is formed so that a plurality of split stator windings are connected in combination.
